The Puritans who settled and essentially created the North colonies had a belief within their religion that both men and women were spiritually equal, even though I would have to marry a man that I could never love, it would be far better than living in a society in which my social worth is only based on the man I would have to marry. Although I would be living somewhat unhappily in the North it would still be better than the South because the possibility of my family being successful is much higher because the economics in the North were so diverse. In the South my hypothetical husband would most likely have to grow tobacco and since tobacco was pretty much the only crop in the South we wouldn’t have made as much money, but in the North my hypothetical husband could be a dairy farmer, a shipbuilder, or even a lumberjack. One of the main downsides of living in the North versus the South would be the religious aspect of the North. I am not a very religious person and I am also very bad at pretending to be something I’m not so the chances of me being a social pariah are quite high considering that religions was the basis of the founding of the Northern
