Is there a way that a corporation can have a competitive advantage, and if there is, what is it? Yes, and one of those ways is with the use of a business level strategy titled differentiation. There are multiple ways a corporation can differentiate its products or services such as better customer service before and after the product is sold, better branding, superior reliability, superior features and function, as well better design (Hill, et al 2015). Differentiation tools are used by many successful corporations such as Nordstrom’s, and Apple (Hill, et al 2015). Differentiation is a wonderful asset that allows corporations to demand a higher price for their product allowing for a higher profitability and profit growth (Hill, et al 2015). For example, Nordstrom’s uses differentiation with the use exceptional customer service and high quality products. Another example of differentiation is its use of superior design among others and high quality (Hill, et al 2015).

According to Bustinza, et al (2015), an organization achieving a competitive advantage is a consequence of servitization. Servitzition enables corporations to pursue stages that allow them the opportunity to greater differentiation from goods with the end result achieving a higher customer fulfillment (Bustinza, et al 2015). It also allows service to construct worth during the entire life of the product while earning the corporation additional funds (Bustinza, et al 2015).
