Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) is a prevalent problem among the adolescent population. The problem with non-suicidal self-injury is that it is often linked to suicide attempts despite the fact that the purpose of this self-harming is not for the attention for suicide. In this paper, there are three studies that give insight into this phenomenon. In Nock et al. (2006) they conducted their study for the purpose of finding a correlation between NSSI, suicide attempts, and pain experience in clinical adolescents and finding relations between disorders and the behavioral problem.
