Results were built off of what the test subjects had written within their questionnaires. Some of the questions asked participants to rate the frequency of different acts and incidents of abuse they have witnessed before and after 13 years of age. These results support the hypothesis by showing that physical abuse was related to self-harm concerns. The bootstrapping analysis showed significant effects between physical abuse and self-harm (B = .332, p = .02) and between physical abuse and suicide-related concerns (B = -.059, p <.001). Although this study was put together well, there were limitations primarily the methods used; all test subjects were in college and hardly any had a history of self-harm.…
It is true that some members of the public view euthanasia as unfair, cruel and insensitive. They make a clear proposition that human life is good, that it is worth living, that it deserves respect and protection, that every human being has an equal worth and dignity, which every human being has a right to live. And for those cruel hearts, sanctimonious and supercilious with their religious dogma claiming the moral high ground supporting a total lack of dignity and a blatant disregard of a person's pain, one should ask them to put themselves in the dying man's shoes. First, I do not believe that religion should play a huge role in the decision to legalize assisted suicide. In America, we have the right to freedom of religion, so that same freedom…
the room to the right of the investigators. It then moved quickly out of the doorway. “We researched the development of fog in interior spaces and found nothing scientifically that could substantiate what we were seeing on our infrared night vision camera that night,” said Todd. “The fog moved intelligently, we could not see it with our own eyes, and it seemed to avoid human contact.” One of the team’s favorite technological tools is the SB7 and the SB11 Spirit Boxes.…

As the behavior is common among young students it would be helpful to provide psychoeducational approaches to self-harm in the context of a classroom (Trepal, et al., 2007) This would provide students with an education to better understand the behavior and who they could talk to if they were self-harming. In addition group counseling is something that also could be beneficial. One study suggested that group counseling activities could be helpful to those who are already involved in individual treatments (Trepal, et al., 2007). This would provide the clients with a much needed support system and the fact that they are not…
The controversy of assisted suicide has taken a huge effect on our society; that has not always been legal in the United States until now with six states allowing it. Assisted suicide should be legalized in the United States because it offers terminally ill patients the right to end their life of treatments and allows them death with dignity, financial motivation under healthcare to kill themselves is a cheaper alternative to medical treatment, and alleviate the pain with families pain and suffering. To begin with, for terminally ill patients who suffer from terminal illnesses have succeeded in extending people’s lives by medical science since the 1960s, The Hippocratic Oath refers to “do not harm” was introduced in 1973. It is believed that more than three hundred thousand people end up in the hospital every year due to a self inflicted injury or suicide attempt. What is worse is that these attempts not only potentially permanently disfigure or disable a person, but also can have lasting impacts on both their mental state and affects their family members (Baily, 2011). In reference to the CDC’s 2007 data, “The overall suicide rate was 11.5%. On average every 15.2 minutes someone kills themselves, every 1 hour 37 minutes an elderly person commits suicide, and every 2 hours 7 minutes a young person commits suicide” (Baily, 2011). With these figures it is easy to see why suicide is such a major problem in today’s…
A Review on the Epidemic of Adolescent Suicides Suicide is one of the most saddening topics to discuss. As a whole, suicide is awful. However, the population that I find the most concerning is adolescents. Sadly, suicide is the third leading cause of death in adolescents. With an influx of bullying and society’s ideals of perfection, there is no wonder how a depressed teen’s fixation on suicide is fed.…
