Friedrich Nietzsche
Nietzsche was a brilliant philosopher and influencer on modern thinking and published numerous works in philosophy. One of his books that I’ve come across in the past is Beyond Good and Evil. Nietzsche argues that most conscious thinking tends to be informed strictly by instinct. To understand what Nietzsche means, we need to understand his conception of the will to power. Nietzsche aims at freeing higher human beings (masters) from their false consciousness about morality.
Nietzsche argued that there were two core types of morality, “Master morality” and “Slave morality.” He claims masters are creators of morality whilst slaves respond to masters because the masters are typically noble or brave. Slave morality values things like sympathy and kindness, while master morality values strength, pride, and power. Master morality weigh actions on a scale of good or bad consequences, unlike slave morality which measure actions on a scale of good or evil intentions. He also addresses slave morality as “Herd morality”.

I agree with this point specifically because in society there is always going to be someone “above” you, whether it is your manager in a workplace, or the government. For Nietzsche, equality and democracy is the opposite of what humans actually value. This is why he thinks equality and democracy fall under slave morality.
