According to the reading, NIBCO decide to purchase a new ERP system because the legacy environment and data management wasn’t working. Due to having a fragmented system. The system had multiple access points with several databases. The system need a higher integrated ERP system. With the recommendation made for SAP R/3, the company will gain operational improvements which will reduce costs. The implementation of this new system will bring a more efficiently function allowing the company to grow.

The SAP R/3 system would integrate the platform for the supply chain, boost productivity and customer services. At the end NIBCO did not customize the SAP R/3 to avoid reconfiguration of legacy systems and adopting new ERP system practices.
