It was on the authority of this establishment that people were organized into societal classes and assigned specific tasks based on their ability. Though this allowed the people to enhance and expand their already established fields, the birth of a new organization merited the birth of new areas of expertise – many of which are still relevant in the prosperity of society today. In Aztec Tribute: Observations of Gonzalo Fernandez de Oviedo y Valdé , one such field of work is discussed. In this text, the Aztec government set a man in charge of collecting the tributes of the people and instigating the amount required by each person.
