My name is Nelson Ocasio. I’m currently residing in the city of Lacey in Washington State. I’m recently retired from the United States Army on October 26, 2015 after 22 years of active duty service and 7 years as a member of the National Guard. I have a beautiful family, my wife, two daughters and one son. My oldest daughter has graduated with a degree in anthropology/sociology. My second oldest daughter is also in college and attending APU. She is currently midway through her senior year and she is studying Psychology with a minor in Child Development. My hobbies are photography and gas powered remote control car racing.
In regards of my work experience in the environmental field. I had the opportunity to work with three different companies: as Hazardous Waste Operations / Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Supervisor and as Lead, Asbestos and PCB’s removal project manager. My current program is a Masters on Environmental Policy and Management – Capstone Option with a concentration on Environmental Planning and a certificate on Environmental Hazard Mitigation and Restoration. In addition, I had formal training and certification on hazardous material and waste transportation & certification, OSHA compliance, offshore & onshore spill response, confined space entry certification, radiological spill response and others. As far as my current job goes, I’m taking a break from the work force after 30 years, due to medical problems directly related with my military service, and the wear and tear of such demanding profession. In addition, I just want to visit other countries as a tourist and not as a military representative for a
