Negative Effects Of Power In Antigone

Decent Essays
When one person has the power over many, it can lead to negative consequences.
Power can have a negative affect when one person is in charge because of fear and control. In Antigone, the main character goes back to bury her brother but, gets caught by Creon who holds power over her. Creon wants “bitter death for this” because she has committed a huge crime, yet iseme knew all about her doing this and she didn't get punished(line 98). He is punishing her because she is a princess yet he did not punish any of the lower class people. This shows that because he held all the power that he has the right to punish her and not others even though some of them have committed a crime. She was doing the right thing because she wanted her brother buried
