Game , online and offline, has become a national pastime and hobby for many. With the adoption of console gaming, the trend has gone from the desktop computer, to the big screen television in your living room. With the introduction of console gaming, the age group of gamers has gone from adulthood to elementary aged kids. Several effects have come about since the dawn of gaming and have gone even further, since console gaming began its trend. Some effects are good, but with every good effect, there is a bad one. In this paper, we will discuss several good and bad effects of gaming on children and adults.
First, we will focus on offline gaming. Games that are played offline usually have a story to them, or are a puzzle type game, or they are

An introverted person who does not like crowds or isn’t a big socializer may find solace in gaming. With newer technology, such as voice chat for gaming, makes it easier for a person to socialize. Without the fear of face to face rejection or confrontation, people find it easier to be accepted by others. For one reason they are usually all striving for a common goal within the game. The second attribute is that because of this common goal, genders, races, and religions are generally overlooked by most players. For instance, someone who may stutter a lot face to face with people, may tend to talk more normal because the face to face conflict is no longer there. Granted, voice chatting in a game doesn’t fix the stutter, it only suppresses the anxiety to speak clearly. People who tend to play a particular game sometimes tend to form groups with those players, creating a clan or guild forming a cohesive unit and close nit group of friends that end up usually running on a schedule with each …show more content…
With virtual reality and augmented reality on the rise in 2016, its only going to get more immersive and addictive. People need to learn and understand the benefits and health risks in gaming. Yes, here and now, gaming may be a fun time, but years of eating Doritos and chugging Mountain Dew may lead to major health problems. Sitting in front of a computer monitor for long periods may lead to constant eye strain, causing headaches and muscle atrophy. Some can game longer than others, but in the end, it is just as bad whether it’s for one hour or twenty. Pacing yourself while gaming is a hard thing to do, especially when it is something you enjoy, but it doesn’t have to run your life. Play the game and don’t let the game play
