Near Railroad Crossing Research Paper

Being near railroad crossings and railroads in general can be a very dangerous thing to be around. However, as long as we practice the right safety measures and precautions we can go past them without injury. To start there are road signs that you should always follow while driving near railroad crossings. At most railroad crossings there are crossing gates, flashing lights, and loud bells if to make sure you know that a train is approaching. You should never go around them because a train will come and they have a very difficult time stopping quickly, so if you were to get stuck on the tracks there would be nothing that the train could do. There are also warning signs that start before you get to the railroad crossing, this is to ensure that you know you are approaching a railroad crossing so that you are prepared to stop if you have to.According to the railroad crossing lesson, bus drivers and truck drivers are required to stop at all railroad crossings in order to ensure the safety of their passengers/materials they are carrying, so if you are behind a truck or bus and approaching a railroad crossing, be prepared to stop. …show more content…
First, you should always expect that a train can be coming at any time. Once you make sure it is clear to go, you can cross with caution, however never shift gears if driving a manual car because you could stall your car. This could be dangerous if a train starts to come and your car is in the middle of the tracks. Also, you should never try to judge the speed of a train because big object always look like they are moving slower than they actually are. If you try to beat a train across the tracks because it looks like it is moving slow, you will most likely regret you decision. It is not worth risking you life to try and beat train just to get to your destination 30 seconds
