It took all day but it was worth it. I still have 6 days in petrified forest national park. In the morning we’re going to start our day with geocaching. Geocaching is where you use a global positioning system (GPS) and you find these boxes, usually in the color grey or camouflage, you see what's in them, you write your name in the logbook, if you take something you leave something, that's a rule in geocaching. I have to go to bed now so i guess this is where i'll end i hope i can sleep

11:00 am I wake up to a perfectly clean room with a perfect breakfast: sausage, pancakes, bacon, and cinnamon rolls all sitting right next to my bed. I eat my breakfast and get ready for the day. I go downstairs to see my friends Austen, Zach, and Elias down there holding four tickets to the Super Bowl game tonight and a jet sitting outside in the field. I had slept in a little past what we had planned on leaving by but it didn’t matter too much we still had plenty of time to do what we wanted to.…

The neighborhood was noiseless, and the sky was pitch black, for there had been no moon on that summer morning in June. My mother and father started our car and waited for Sofia,my sister, sean ,my friend, and me to get inside. It was time to leave our dull suburban home in San Jose, and drive to the beloved National Park, Yosemite, to hike Half Dome. On the car ride there I had slept, but awoke right when we had gotten into the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Looking outside of the window and noticing all of the evergreen trees was surreal for me, as I rolled down my window a strong smell of pine and fresh air poured into the car.…

The reintroduction of the wolf into Yellowstone National Park proved significant to the development and growth of species in and around the park. John Muir once said, “When one tugs at a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of the world.” Here, Muir believes that when one individual component of a habitat is affected, the rest of the habitat is also affected. This idea can best be described as a keystone species. Keystone species are a species of animal that is involved within a specific ecosystem that alters the functions of the entire ecosystem.…

We spent about half our day there, and then after that she took me to the San Antonio Zoo. That zoo was humongous, way bigger than the one in the valley. I saw monkeys, elephants, rhinoceros, lions, zebras, and even penguins.…

The paper I have chosen to do a referee report on, "Contributions of the US state park system to nature recreation"by Juha Siikamäki, analyzes the economic contributions of state park systems in the United States. The stated goal of the paper was to estimate the net contributions of state parks in the US to help aid policy makers, and the public, with public policy and management decisions. To do this the author uses a novel approach to help with estimating the economic contributions of a state park by choosing to focus on the amount of time state parks are used for so called “nature recreation”. In the end, the results of analysis done in the paper show that state parks have a “robust positive effect on overall nature recreation” in the US.…
