The four pillars of National Honors Society are based off of leadership, scholarship, service and character. All of which are key essentials to a student's life during and after high school. I do my best everyday to exemplify these pillars to show others why it is important to demonstrate these qualities. The first pillar of National Honors Society is leadership, guidance towards other people. Leadership can be shown in many different ways, but to have good leadership, you must have good communication skills. You must acquire good communication skills because you have to be an effective leader. You need to make an impact on the people you are guiding. During my second year of volleyball, my coach picked me to be the captain of the team. To be captain, I had to lead my team during warm-ups, meetings, and games. When I was leading my team during the warm-ups, I had to communicate to my teammates so that we, as a team, can work together. Having good communication skills shows people that you can demonstrate the necessary needs to be a good leader. …show more content…
Scholarship shows the dedication of a student who is pleased to take the necessary time to achieve the proper knowledge they need or want. To be willing to take the necessary time, the student must have a strong drive. My drive came from my parents and their goals in life. I learned at a very young age that you must work for want you want, no one will just give it to you. I knew that I was not very sportsy like my sister, but I enjoyed school work and getting the good grades. So that is when I decided to focus more on getting high grades in school and just play sports for fun on my free time.
