Picture me a child 16 months old, in a park playing happily with my parents...now picture my parents smoking their cigarettes. The smoke reaches me continually through the few hours that we are there. My lungs are filled with dangerous chemicals through a process referred to as second hand smoking. Later, because my irresponsible parents failed to stop themselves and take care of my health. This has been happening since I was born, I end up in the hospital later that week. The doctor says that I’ll have permanent hearing loss in my left ear, as a result of the multiple occurrences of ear infections related to second hand smoking. Now fast forward one year, I’m able to walk around the playground that my parents have brought me to. Then I see my mom drop something before she pulls out another cigarette, I pick it up and get curious, so I start to eat the cigarette butt. My mother and father are standing at my funeral, sobbing, while they are unaware that they caused my untimely death from nicotine poisoning. They would make up excuses such as, the fact that it makes up a large amount of our economy, and would cost big businesses and their workers hundreds of dollars. There are many other ways that companies can flourish and put their money into, like helping schools around the country, help with getting rid of pollution instead of causing it. This list goes on and on, we just need to stop putting our money into things that are causing so many deaths, diseases, and pollution all around the world. We are in an age of such great technology that can help us to communicate this message and educate the globe these dangers of public smoking.
