In the Chicago Tribute version of this article, McCarthy shows an example of this by the opinion of this woman named Zena Polin; she is an unmarried restaurateur from Silver Spring, Maryland and compares working on Valentine's Day was "like a slap in the (already wind-burned) face." I also feel sadness working on Valentine's Day because I am a single man and every time Valentine's Day comes along I see customers buying their sweetheart gifts; boy I wish that one day I will find my sweetheart that I am …show more content…
The biggest reasons why I think people might discredit McCarty's articles is that it is impossible to just stop celebrating a holiday as popular such as Valentine's Day. To just stop celebrating Valentine's Day is like saying we should not celebrate Halloween because has ties witchcraft and evil things, even though we just celebrate it by dressing up, going door to door getting candy, or just to have some fun. In general, this article may have appeal to people that are single, thinks it is a scam out of your money, or if you had some misfortune on that day, but I do not think couples will changed their views on Valentine's Day because of this article. Two things I wished McCarty had in her article were some facts about Valentine's Day not just opinions from other people and had more of her thoughts about Valentine's Day not just other people's thoughts about the holiday. But at least this article reassures me that I am not alone in my distaste for the holiday called Valentine's
