Never Give Up
Seven years ago, the idea of going to college seemed impossible to me. Back then, I had just moved to the United States(US) and did not speak any English. I had also been absent from school for three years before I moved to Chicago. College not only seemed impossible due to the language barrier but because no one in my family had ever gone to college before. Yet, I decided that I was going to go to college, and worked hard ever since to get to where I am now; becoming a college student and working industrious so I can one day become a Pharmacist.

Math team was one of the clubs I was involved in, and I been a member of the math club for four years. Practicing twice a week with a team, studying on my own time for the competitions, and coordinating with teammates to attend the meet are some of the challenges I had to overcome. Practicing twice a week with a team allowed me to ask questions when I got stuck. It also helped me get to know my teammates better. In addition, asking questions was helpful because after learning a concept I would not forget the concept at the meet. Furthermore, studying on my own helped me to balance school work, my social life, and it also helped me to be more organized. Besides, studying on own time helped me to balance my school work because I had so many homework and classwork assignments to do for my high school and Dual Enrollment (College) classes. Being a member of the math team has helped me to plan and follow it. It has also helped me balance my social life because although I want to hang out with my friends and family every day, instead I make plans to hang out with my friends on the weekend. Moreover, coordinating with teammates to attend the meets and overcoming challenges to get to the meets were demanding because it was hard to use social media to communicate and provide solutions for the …show more content…
The first day of my senior year was a bright sunny day, and one of my best friends, Saleh Ali gave my friends and I ride. When he pulled his car into the school parking lot, we quickly walked towards the main entrance. We all were excited and making fun of the freshmen students. We were also judging them on how different they are from us. We easily got our class schedule from the reception area and went to our first class, which was OneGoal class. My friends and I were setting all way in the front and charming for our classmates when they entered the class. It was an enormous difference between the first day of my freshmen and senior years. In my senior, I was an intelligent student, member of the National Honor Society (NHS), captain of a soccer team, and co-captain of the volleyball team.
