Does being rational and realistic necessarily equate with being happy, and how do Narrative and Mindfulness Therapy differ from CBT in their approach to fostering happiness?
The equation of being ‘rational’ and ‘realistic’ fosters the thought of happiness as one assumes it would. Individual interpretations of rational thoughts and accurate beliefs are expressions of what the mind is feeling. This essay will discuss how Narrative and Mindfulness Therapy differ from CBT in their approach to fostering happiness? I will also identify what equates with being happy in reference the five individuals in the documentary Gay Muslims.
What does it mean to be happy? Psychology defines happiness as overall wellbeing, but there is an emphasised value on having a meaningful life. A meaningful life seems to be a balance of health, social activity and extrafactual beliefs. Factors that influence happiness include love, work and genetic pre-disposition (Weiten, 2010). It seems that happiness is an assortment of variables, a personal journey of influential emphases.

The key point is that effective therapy requires skill and creativity. Narrative therapy involves deconstructing psycho-physical worlds, externalising strengths or positive attributes which are achieved through questioning and collaboration between the client and psychologist or counsellor. By Narrating versions, focusing on how problems effect people 's lives, rather than on how problems are part of people a healing processes can be forged. From individuals detaching themselves of the influences deriving from the issue, problems are easier to investigate and evaluate constituting the start of self-acceptance and a happier outlook on
