In this book there's many feelings and traits going around. For example, I would describe Naomi Martinez as a nice, caring, courageous, sincere, and very devoted person. My character doesn’t change throughout my book so she is a static. She is also a indirect person because she isn’t just described directly but is told by her actions. She also doesn’t change much in the book so she would be a static character. She is indirect because I have to infer what her personality is like by her actions instead of the author just saying what they are. The shows how she helps out people and cares for them. The most important one the author shows is how devoted she was to bring her family back together and stop fighting. She is a static character because she doesn’t experience much change throughout the book. She becomes happier at the end but not much change. She really only affects the people around her and helps them out. Naomi Martinez is described with many traits. She is a caring, nice, sincere, courageous, and devoted person. She helps her friends and family a lot. She is an indirect character because she isn’t just described. She is also a static person because she doesn’t change in the story. She just changes the people around her. This all the traits that explain this character called Naomi

She was strong and loyal to her friend and her family (despite what had happened to her while she was with her mother). I think one of the things I loved the most about her was how realistic her grief was. Sure, there was hate towards her mother for doing what she did – but it never took over and she still felt grief. She reminded me of a trapped dog, sweet and cuddly to those who showed her kindness but a rabid animal to those with opposite intentions. She does some pretty silly things though, dumb and completely idiotic things, but it didn’t take away from her character as a whole.…

From watching the film, I understand that women who are incarcerated do not receive the proper prenatal care in order to give birth to children. I feel that shackling an incarcerated mother to a hospital bed, when in labor, is cruel and unnecessary. Doing so has the potential to increase the risk of a child and/or mother to experience problems during birth. After hearing Tina Torrez’s experience when giving birth to her daughter as an inmate, it was clear the care inmate mothers receive is unacceptable when compared to the care mothers who are not labeled as inmates receive. Hearing her experience bothered me because of the fact that even though she was pregnant and giving birth, she was still treated as if she were not a human with physical and emotional feelings.…

The character in a story is the main foundation in any story, essay, or any other form of writing. These characters not only give the writing a purpose, but present the irony, symbols, and conflicts in the stories. Without the main character there would not be any sort of writing. The main character may also be dynamic, which means the change as the story goes on, or they may be flat, which meants that they don’t change. From the many stories we read in our class, I fell in love with the character Rochelle, from the story “The Bride” by author Christine Granados.…

In M.Dotty’s novel Surviving High School, it was either sink or swim for Emily because she was compared daily to her sister Sara’s swimming achievements. Emily remained positive despite the daily chaos and negative characters she was forced to deal with on a day to day basis. For instance Emily deals with the negativity from domonique on a daily basis. Postmodern picture books are often designed by authors and illustrators “who deliberately work against a linear storytelling pattern” (Wolfenbarger and Sipe, 2007, p. 275). Characteristically, postmodern picture books have a non-linear storyline, encompass a socio-cultural or political concern, and allow students to actively engage by encouraging the construction of meaning from the interplay between visual imagery and text, resulting in narrative construction. The postmodern picture book entitled The Tortoise and the Hare: An Aesop Fable by Janet Stevens (2008a) utilises a plethora of visual imagery and written text in order to highlight the perseverance of Tortoise and the boastfulness of Hare in this creative rendition of a well-known Aesop…

The presentation by Camilla Cullinane from KPMG was very precise and intriguing. It finished just over an hour, thus there was no lapse of concentration associated with the length and fatigue. The limited and yet informative background about her career, the scope of work she does and how she has climbed the corporate ladder from a tax trainee to now a director was interesting to listen to. It was a real and practical story that one can easily relate. The broad scope of various taxes she deals with, engagements with KPMG offices in other countries in dealing with the client queries, restructuring and planning sparked excitement for me and confirmed the appreciation of an inclusive world.…
