Nadal-Ginard together with his wife lived a lavish lifestyle. His art collection had an estimated worth of $6.75 million and he owned two Boston luxury residences. It was said that much of the money he took from the foundation was used to enlarge his collection. He is a talented scientist and has lots of prestigious recognitions through his research. As president of the Boston Children’s Heart Foundation, Nidal-Ginard controlled revenues of $8 million a year. There were no provisions for guidance. There were no formal meetings of the directors and no one saw the foundation's expenses. There was no accounting and therefore it was easy for Nidal-Ginard to award himself an excessive income.
