“ That's not a valid religion.” “You don't dance or drink, you’re no fun.” “Marriage has problems, why are you so against divorce?” “You don't believe in organ transplants.” These are a few comments and myths a Jehovah witness gets. I got news for you, these are all myths. Jehovah Witness is in fact a religion, they love to dance and drink, they believe divorce should be a last resort, but it's understandable, and if offered an organ transplant they would gladly take it. Growing up we would have “holiday” parties they students who were Jehovah Witnesses always had to leave. The teachers really didn't say much or try to turn the “holiday” party into something where all the students could attend. It was not their choice to leave the party, they had to because of their beliefs and you could tell how heartbroken they were when they had to go sit in a room for an hour and stare at the wall. At my age, I didn't really care about how my pupils felt and neither did my teachers. But looking back now on my experience of actually sitting down with Karen and Vivi, students should not be sitting out because of their religious beliefs, they are no different from you and I , because they call our god a different name, or they don't celebrate holidays. My job as a teacher is to make every single kid feel welcome in my classroom no matter what and if even one kid feels uncomfortable I have not done my job
