5 drops of water was added to each of the 5 different samples in the first column of the spot plate. Each content was stirred well using a toothpick. Each sold was recorded as either soluble or insoluble.
One drop of the universal indicator was added to each of the five wells containing the water and sample from step 4. Each content was mixed well. Observations were recorded.
5 drops of vinegar were added to each of the five samples in the second column of the spot plate. Each content was mixed well. Observations were recorded.
2 drops of iodine solution was added to each of the five samples in the third column of the spot plate. Each content was mixed well. Observations were recorded.
Using a scoopula, a small sample of the mystery powder was added to the three wells of the the spot plate. The appearance of the powder was recorded.
Steps 4-7 were repeated using the mystery powder.Observations were recorded.
The contents of the spot plate was disposed into the waste disposal beaker. All materials were cleaned and returned.
