When coming to college, I had many opportunities to explore multiple different writing styles and genres by doing numerous JITT Posts. When Professor Durnell gave us multiple specific questions to answer such as “How is the critical reading of the writing of others (published authors and fellow students) helping your own writing and learning?” or “What about your writing and learning do you think needs additional work, and what plans do you have for improving?”. I had to really reflect on myself as a writer. In all of my four Bi-Weekly reflections I mainly focus on my personal weakness and how I can improve my weak points. I said, “I still struggle to keep a constant verb tense in my paper and I occasionally make a few grammar mistakes. Despite feeling that I had slightly improved on my grammar skills, I still make simple mistakes. The way I resolve my issues is my refreshing my grammar skills by practicing online and proofreading to the best of my abilities.” I think the Bi-Weekly reflection is a great reminder of how I can improve my writing and the processes I need to take to become an overall good writer. In all of my Bi-Weekly Reflections, I mainly focus on how important it is to read other people writing styles as well. In my reflection I would say, “I think it is very critical when reading other authors and my fellow classmates writing styles. I think it gives me a better chance to understand different works of writing. I can learn how to incorporate different styles of writing and try to make it my own”.
