My Writing Process

I would say I have a neutral opinion on English classes. Some days I like them, and some days I dread the time when I have to go home and write another really long essay. My writing process has always been about the same from year to year because I tend to do very well on most of them. I have really enjoyed reading books and plays in class, and I hope we can do that in the future. Over the years, I have defined a technique for writing essays that best suits me. I always type essays on a computer at my desk, which is located in the office space at my house. There is no specific time of day when I decide to write an essay, but it usually will happen late at night when I have finished all my other homework and want to complete it, or I will write my essay early in the morning because I am busy during the day. Usually when I start writing essays, ideas come to me rapidly, so I prefer to write my whole essay at one time. After a couple days, I will go back to it during multiple occasions over the next week to revise it and make it the best it can be. I never pre-write, and I find writing outlines to be useless …show more content…
Even though creative writing may not seem like a difficult task, for uncreative people like me, it is extremely difficult. Socratic Seminars are the absolute worst because I am not very good at being able to form and defend my own opinion. Also, most of the Socratic Seminars I have participated in have a couple people who talk the whole entire time and get the most possible points during it and leave me with nothing to say because they have said everything else. Another part of the Socratic Seminar I dislike is the fact that I have to interrupt other people to talk to recieve my points. I have learned throughout my life the interrupting people is rude, but now, that is exactly what I have to

In regards to my writing process, there have been some central strategies that I have developed over time and some strategies that I have had for as long as I can remember. For example, one skill that I have developed from high school has been to annotate, mark up, and take notes throughout my readings. I found that taking notes really helps me, not only to remember what I read but to go back and be able to point out something in my reading easily. In addition, it helped me understand the readings better.…

I do this in order to gain a clear understanding of what the paper is asking of me. Next, I consult all the materials given, or collected by me, to begin to form an idea about what I want my paper to state. Then I start my outline. Outlining is a pretty simple process for me it usually includes headings that state the main idea of the paragraph with bullet points of supporting detail.…

My writing process is similar to the typical high schooler, except like the typical high schooler I have no idea what my process is. Having to slow down and think about your process before writing can be complicated due to the fact that I am thinking about what I doing naturally. Hopefully I will be able to fully break down my process and use what I learn from that to improve my writing. My process starts with me focusing on a prompt whether it’s given to me or I have to create one myself.…

Writing is an art; we create our thoughts in your mind and express it on paper. Once we start writing we keep getting new ideas and when we re-read what we wrote, sometimes it might surprise us. I like to write during early mornings or in the evening when it is quiet. My reading table is facing towards the window so when fresh air is in my room, fresh ideas generate inside me as well. I make sure to have some healthy snacks and a bottle of water in front me…

As a senior at TCPS, I am currently taking my second dual-enrollment college course, comp one. Before this college level writing course, I thought I had the skill of writing papers mastered. Throughout grade school, writing a paper in a few hours was easily achievable and was the general thing to do. My peers and I easily wrote papers without effort and made good grades. Therefore, when I started my first college writing course, I thought this was the thing to do.…

Pre writing is the first phase associated with the writing process along with drafting, revising, editing, and publishing (Alber-Morgan, Hessler, & Konrad, 2007). I personally do not have a very in depth formal pre writing process. I begin each assignment by watching the weekly lecture and taking notes on things that pertain to the discussion post and complete section. Next, I write down various topics and contemplate them over night. I can formulate my ideas better whenever I physically write them out versus when I sit in front of a computer screen and try to type.…

If I was writing a paper that required a specific number of paragraphs or pages I would typically plan my paper using the four square method. If I was writing an important paper I would write a rough draft, then as I was typing it I would revise it and fix any mistakes I found. One thing that remained consistent in my writing process, no matter the type of paper, is after I wrote the paper I would try to find more grade level appropriate words instead of the simple words I originally used. While writing essays for this class I came to find it is better to combine my writing processes to write the best possible essay I could. I found the best steps for me to take in writing my paper are to write my ideas down in some form.…

People on the outside think that there is something magical about writing. They think that you can go up into the big beautiful sky, pull out a story and come down with it, but it is not that simple. You sit at the back of a computer and work, and that’s all there is to it. Writing used to be one of my greatest fears when having to write an essay for a class. I could never start my papers on time.…
