My Visit To The Panhandler And The Gulf Coast

Decent Essays
This may sound really crazy, but I never knew where the Panhandler and the Gulf Coast were until I started reading my book. I have heard many people talk about them and now I know where they are. I have traveled out of the state many times. Even though I was born in west Texas, Sweetwater, I will one day visit the Panhandler and the Gulf Coast. As I read my studies I know for sure I would never live in South Texas around the Mexican border Rio Grande area. I read that there were high levels of air, ground and water pollution. I moved to North Texas in 1980 and have been here ever since. I love it here because there is so much opportunity and growth for my children and myself. I may one day visit South Texas and German Hill Country for the experience,

Texas is a thriving state, but it wasn’t always that way. When Texas was just a Spanish colony, it almost failed. Spain had established a few forts in Texas and had sent explorations to claim land all over Texas. In the year 1682, French explorer named Rene-Robert Cavalier, Sieur de La Salle established Fort St. Louis in east Texas and that made Spain nervous. In response to this fort, Spain made a plan to scare off the French.(Background Essay)…

While Texas does hope for a decrease of illegal immigrants and higher border security, the individualistic political culture would make this difficult because it wants for the involvement of the government to be as limited as possible. Also, just like the traditionalistic political culture, they seek to have dominance, so they deprive minorities of their rights and immigrants who try to earn their…

Another reason is it my favorite because, there are many and as well different nations from around the world settled in the state of Texas. The maps seemed to support author’s mention about different nations being settled in Texas. For example, within those boundaries lie 11 nations, each with its own distinctive set of values and political leanings. I felt that Mr Wyly did great job by listing all the nations one by one and in different areas of Texas. Also he did not forget to mention political views and cultural of those people who settled on East, on the Deep South, and on the Far West.…

As a state, Texas has one of the most interesting histories. From the very beginning, when natives were in control of North America, to the present, we have been very influential in every state, country, or region. About three decades after the civil war in 1901, the Texas economy change drastically with the discovery of oil on January tenth. Two thousand five hundred eighty-seven. I could take an eight-hour flight or a casual thirty-seven-hour drive, but no matter what, I am still two thousand five hundred eighty-seven miles away from my home in New Haven, Connecticut. Being a college freshman, trying to juggle class, homework, projects, studying, sleeping, eating, and athletics; finding the travel time to go home is an almost impossible task. Add in the cost of the $600 flights round trip and there is no chance a student can go visit home when they feel a little homesick. I on the other hand had never even fathomed being homesick from the frozen tundra I called home.…

With its piney woods in the East, it's four hundred miles of coastline, the Rio Grand Valley, West Texas desert, and Hill Country, Texas is one of the most geographically diverse state in the union. It has something for everyone. And although many Texans complain about the heat, few have had to dig themselves out of five foot of snow in subzero temperatures. Just as warm as the Texas weather is its culture. Perhaps due to the fact that most Texans aren't stacked on top of each other in Maryland-styled row houses, they seem to appreciate their neighbors.…

Long before the current situation, Texas had immigration issues but in contrasting form. Immigration in Texas during the 1830s consisted of “white, English-speaking Americans who were looking for a better life in Texas. And the authorities who were trying to keep them out were Mexican” (Root, 2012). Centuries later this situation evolved into the illegal immigration issue that Texas is dealing with today. What makes this situation more of a controversy now than before is the vast numbers of illegal immigrants seeking a new beginning in Texas and the limited economic resources that are available to support them.…
