From my experience I have learned how teachers differ from each other. Every teacher has their own way of teaching. This module made me aware of the various ways teachers teach as explained in the different teaching philosophies. Different teachers prefer different philosophies. I am going to describe my teaching philosophy and elaborate on my two philosophies. My two philosophies are Constructivism and progressivism. The two philosophers I chose are John Dewey and Jean Piaget. I will briefly elaborate on my perspective of the learners in the future. There is a continuous creativity.” Jean Piaget .Learners actively construct their own knowledge. It is the mental construction and symbolic of an individual that is prescribed as the outcome of learning. Instruction is not only something that is given to learners, they use their internal mental processes. Students learn through constructing their own knowledge through experiences and reflecting on them. Constructivism is an active, continuous process. Each individual have their own way in constructing their own knowledge. An example of constructivism is when you listen to a lecturer and construct their own knowledge. Educators should construct and assist students, be facilitators not educators. The facilitator should support learners constructing their own knowledge.“The purpose of education is to enhance individual effectiveness in society and give learners practical knowledge and problem and problem-solving skills.” John Dewey (2008). Dewey's emphasis on the importance of democratic relationships in the classroom setting necessarily shifted the focus of educational theory from the institution of the school to the needs of the school's students. They learn through asking questions and interacting with others. Learning also occurs when teaching others. Result of learning is when you gain knowledge or skill through studying, experiencing or learning something. Learning does not happen all at once, it sometimes builds on the knowledge you have.
