My Trip To Tulalane

Tulane is known for its amazing medical program and the vibrant New Orleans city life that surrounds the campus – these attributes alone made me fall in love with Tulane. A couple of weeks ago, when I had a chance to visit the campus, I not only fell in love with what I read and heard, but what the University is about – making me feel welcomed and apart of a community . While on campus I walked around with a law student, Anjane, who also attended Tulane for undergrad. She gave me the “real” on campus life, and what to expect if I attended Tulane. She kept on reiterating how well I would fit in, and how much there was to do. Little did she know she was preaching to the converted. She didn’t need to keep on telling me how well I would fit it, I noticed it when one of the volleyball players handed me a flyer for a game on my way to the Law school building. They all belonged to amazing clubs, but I couldn’t see myself joining any of them. That was until the second to last tour guide spoke. She mentioned where she was from and why she chose Tulane - the same spiel every other tour guide had given – but I wasn’t listening. Then she said the word “dog” and I was riveted. I leaned forward in my seat just to make sure I didn't hear her incorrectly. Sure enough, I didn’t. She told the audience that she is a part of an organization that trained puppies to become service dogs. I didn’t even know a program like that existed, but the fact that there was an organization like that on campus not only made me want to join the club, but made me think about what other interesting clubs Tulane offered. I know that Tulane comprises of over 7,000 accomplished individuals, but to know that “I fit”, and that I share common interests with other students on campus makes me love Tulane that much
