My Story Inside God’s Story #2
Psalm 103:19 reads, “The LORD has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all.” God rules over all. His kingdom is both in heaven and here on earth. It encompasses both realms in equal authority and in equal sovereignty. By reflecting on class readings and discussions, it is possible for me to write my understandings of the Kingdom of God, those things that I do not understand, how I am wrestling with them, and what the pressing needs are in the world and the Kingdom of God today.
I understand the Kingdom of God to be in the stage between the already but the not yet. This understanding is supported by Hebrews 2:8-9, which reads, “Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left

First and foremost, the main thing I do not understand about the Kingdom of God is why God does what he does in his kingdom. There are sometimes when it is very clear what God is doing or what his plan is but there are other times when it seems as if God has lost his mind. Fundamentally, we can point to the verse Isaiah 55:8-9 to explain this, which reads, “’For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the LORD. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.’” While this is sufficient to determine why I do not always understand what God is doing, it is sometimes hard to accept that I do not know the outcome of God’s plans. I have come to learn that asking, “why?” is the wrong question and that I do not possess enough faith in God. By me asking the question, “why?” automatically assumes that I know better than God, that I think he is doing the wrong thing. As mentioned before, this is a lack of faith on my part. It is a desire to always be in control and a panic when I am not. It is one of the things I struggle with most in my …show more content…
Throughout my life, I have come to develop a strong understanding of the Kingdom of God. I have come to understand that the Kingdom of God is between the already and the not yet. Jesus already brought with him the Kingdom of God, but the fullness of the Kingdom of God has not yet been accomplished. Jesus’ first coming brought about the beginning of the end for the Kingdom of God and the fullness will not be accomplished until Jesus’ second coming. While I do understand much of the Kingdom of God, the one major thing I do not understand is why God does some of the things he does in his kingdom. Over the years, I have come to learn that I need to daily make it a priority to die to my own selfish desires to be in control and put on unconditional faith in God. While I need to daily die to myself, the world does to. The world has grown increasingly far from God and has a pressing need for the salvation that is found in Jesus. Similarly, the Kingdom of God needs people who are willing to die to themselves and follow wherever he would call them. The more extensive the Kingdom the more extensive the impact, the more people recognize the Creator of the Kingdom. As Psalm 103:19 reads, “The LORD has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over

This is it, this is what God has been promising. These are the words come into being. John 1:1-5, 9, says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.…

Jesus taught about the kingdom in parabolas because he wanted to relate to everyday life. He also taught them this way because he knew the kingdom of God happens in everyday life. McKnight shows that the kingdom Jesus was referring to was a kingdom on earth. I believe is not something we have to wait for, but it is something that is in the present. For me, it is not about waiting for the…

He acts on God’s behalf” (Kraybill, 2011, p. 225). In the upside down kingdom, there is not room power and authority over others. In this new kingdom, one who sees themselves as a young child and serves others will receive greatness. Moreover, Jesus calls everyone to treat others with respect, dignity and equality. This chapter talks about how Jesus wanted to end the in place kingdom model, and wanted to bring God's kingdom model into actuality. Jesus wanted to turn the kingdom over from the Pharisees' to the people of God. Wright states that Jesus didn't want to turn away from Judaism but rather unite the people under the one true God. Jesus called on his followers to repent from their old ways and follow this new way of thinking through Jesus Christ. Jesus would then promise his followers that the preexisting Temple of Israel would fall then would be rebuilt in the name of…

The Kingdom of God is composed of the Children of Adam who are the true believers and the non-Christians belong to the Kingdom of the World. Being a citizen of Christ requires us to serve the Church, pray, and follow His example. In order to be a good citizen of the world we are expected to perform our job as a member of society and obey the laws of the government. Luther reminds us to “Behave in such a way that you bear everything so that you may not need the governing authority to help you and serve you, but that you in turn may help and serve it, being beneficial to it” (Luther 436). Being a part of the Kingdom of the World requires us to know what our duties, rights, and obligations are so that we can have the correct relationship with the state.…

Psalm 68 is an amazing poem written by David that gives insight into the character and qualities of God as sovereign king of both Israel and the world. What is more, the psalm bounces back and forth from speaking to God; using personal pronouns such as ‘you,’ and at the same time David is telling the reader about God. Both of these methods lend well for worship. In addition, David was a king, so his perspective of God as king and the role of the king for his people threads all the way through the entire psalm. Psalm 68 lists specific qualities of God as king, shows his primary activities on behalf of his people and parallels to how King Jesus lived while on earth.…

However, of all views, I choose “The Kingdom as an Ideal to Be Realized.” It gives details of the Lordship of Christ and deals with the dissimilarity connecting the worldly observation and Christian viewpoint of the Lordship of the risen Christ. We are in this world, although not of this world since as a Christian, therefore, we are just pilgrims passing through in this world.…

How My Faith Defines Who I Am Faith: having a strong belief in a religion, or an even stronger belief in a God. I personally believe in God the Father, and that he created each and every one of us in his own image. I believe that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sin and brought us new life through his death and resurrection. In my faith I stand as a Catholic, which means I believe in only one God. However, God is three persons, also known as the Holy Trinity, meaning there is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.…

First of all, the Holy Spirit gives believers the freedom to grow in sanctification and to glorify God. Believers have freedom simply because it is God’s gift to us, thus it can only be exercised in faith by walking by the spirit. (“galatians 5:13-26”) God has not given this freedom so people can live their lives for their own pleasure, but for the first time, they can do what God desires out of love for Him. The Holy Spirit gives true believers this desire to serve God.…
