I have gained a lot of confidence for my future encounters with the police and feel able to talk my way out of a search warrant, or a ticket because this class has taught me what the police force is allowed to do. For instance, I now carry my alcohol in my book bag at all the times just so I can prove to the police that I know my rights. In addition, I have created a Facebook group with my student organization on campus so we can post and blog about current events that are happening everyday. For example, we have debated and spoken how a police officer in my town framed a murder, or how ISIS is terrorizing our world. We are doing the polar opposite of an everyday college student. Not to mention, we should actually care about what’s going on; everything that is going on will in the end affect the rest of our lives. We pay to come to college to prepare for our future, so we need to stay in touch with current events to follow that future that we are paying over $20,000 a year for. FIL 185 contributes to this overall goal and gives you the opportunity to try and understand why everything works the way it does in the civil and criminal system. This class breaks the transparent bubble that we have been so unaware of until we experience it and it let’s us take a side and create our own personal opinion. Thus far this is the only class that has helped me realize
