I was younger I would always play house with my baby dolls and siblings. I always had to be the
mom so I could take care of everyone else even though I was the middle child. As I got older I
couldn’t wait to start babysitting. In Wisconsin you can get a babysitting license when you turn
13, I got mine the exact same day! The passion had always been there but I didn’t know what I
would do with it. There are many career choices that work with children such as; childcare,
teachers, nurses, social workers, etc. The day I had my car accident my mind was made up, at
the age of 9 I knew what I wanted to do with the rest of my life, I want to be a nurse; …show more content…
The
care I received in that moment and at the hospital afterwards made me choose my career path.
I knew I wanted to be the person everyone looked to in a crazy scary situation. I wanted to be
the girl that held little kids hands while they waited for their parents. Most children change
what they want to be through out there life but not me. I made up my mind 15 years ago that I
wanted to be a nurse and have worked every day since then to make this come true.
I have multiple reasons for attending college. The first is, my parents never really gave
us an option growing up. They always forced the idea and when I was younger I resented it, I
wanted to travel the world not go back to school right after finishing twelve years of it. The

I knew I would only be able to
do that with a degree. The last reason, I want to be able to provide for my family. I want a good
steady paying job without having to worry paycheck to paycheck.
I would like to spend the next semester at Leeward Community College getting the rest
of my core class credits. This time next year I hope to be enrolled at Kapiolani Community
College in the “associate in science, nursing” program. When I graduate from this program I
should know enough to be able to take my NCLEX-RN. Passing this will grant me my registered
nurse license! Once I have my RN license I would like to work in the pediatric unit or the
neonatal intensive care unit. I love to take care of all kinds of people but children and babies
are my passion. I will ultimately choose which unit will be main focus when I have experienced
both. If I choose pediatric, I hope to work a few years in a hospital and then eventually transfer
to a stand-alone pediatric clinic. If I choose to go neonatal I will have to stay at a larger hospital.
When I graduate from KCC I will have an associate’s degree so while working I plan on
concentrating getting a bachelor’s
