The family, hopeful that their mother was revived, did not know that she had passed prior to EMS intervention; I learned that a career in medicine also consists of heartache. The compassion I developed for the people whom I met while working in restaurants, on ambulances, and while volunteering for women’s organizations is a reflection of the injustice I have witnessed within the American health care system. An abundance of clinical experience has left me with a keen insight into the emotional hardships placed upon physicians expected to negotiate insurance policies with patient needs. Practicing in the United Kingdom would alleviate these burdens, allow me to focus on providing competent and compassionate medical care, and enable me to be proud of the system I would serve. My undergraduate honor’s thesis on the effects of disrupted copper homeostasis and exposure to pesticides DDT and DDE on Alzheimer Disease phenotypes in Drosophila models, my graduate work in the humanities, and my extensive clinical experiences make me an ideal candidate with a broad set of knowledge and
