My Observation Of An In-Service Day In Physical Education

Decent Essays
Last week for observations we were able to see what an in-service day is like for the physical education teachers. At first it was very confusing and I was really overwhelmed. It also felt like all the teachers were shouting things at each other but they weren’t agreeing on anything for a while. I was confused at first what they were trying to get accomplished. Once I was able to really read the computers and see what they were working towards, some of the conversations made sense. I think that if I had a paper stating what needs to be talked about before and come prepared with the stuff that needs to be written, and then I think it wouldn’t feel as overwhelming. I hope that it will become easier when I have my own classroom and have more

First was my word choice. My word choice before this class had been extremely basic and simple. Another thing that I needed to work on was being able to convey my message on paper. I typically had very good ideas but when I go to put them down on paper they could not seem to come out the way I want them too. My biggest thing coming into this class was trying to work on…

Have you noticed that Physical Education seems to be a narrowing field? I strongly believe that there is a reason we need to keep PE in schools and in society today. Unfortunately, I feel as though many of the educators and teachers today aren’t taking it seriously. They aren’t doing enough to help the students become physically active, instead, the teachers just sit there because it is a job to them, nothing more. If the teachers had a better personal philosophy on what they actually want to teach, then I feel like PE would be a much stronger field and everyone would want it around.…

Community service means to help out those who are in need. To give some of your own time to be able to assist those who are less fortunate. During the Special Olympics I went with my AFJROTC group to volunteer our time to help out with the event. We helped out to run the games and make sure everything ran smooth for the participants. It was an enjoyable event but what really made it worthwhile was to see all of the kids being so excited to be able to compete in the event.…

This source breaks down the different industries in which there are careers in athletic training available and the number of jobs in each industry that are currently held by athletic trainers. It highlights that there is a majority of jobs filled in the “amusement and recreation industries”, and that the least amount of positions filled can be found within the office of physicians. I chose this source because it helps to draw attention to where exactly athletic trainers are needed and where less jobs will be found based on the current amount of positions filled in each industry. This source can be considered expository because it describes each industry’s level of filled position with regard to the career of athletic training. This would be…

The career that I chose is an Athletic Trainer. I would love to be an athletic trainer because I love helping people and I love to be active. In order to get and do this, I would need many science classes, or body health classes. My goal for when I get to be an athletic trainer is to sometime get at least my masters degree. We are currently in week 3 and we have studied many things already in the short time such as different learning styles and getting to know ourselves and what type of a student we are and what benefits us etc. Myself I have learnt just through the classes that documenting things and making a schedule can really benefit me. For example; one of our assignments called “mapping the semester” gave us the opportunity during class to make a calendar and write all of my important dates concerning all my classes such as quizes, tests and assignments. This calendar in my opinion has been very beneficial because now at the beginning of a week I like to look and see what I have to prepare or study for, for the upcoming week. I have noticed that I have…

Stereotypes from past experiences as well as the media have almost formed how most individuals view a physical education teacher. Most people have an idea of what a “good” phys-ed teacher and also what a “bad” phys-ed teacher should be like. Personally, a good physical education teacher should be athletic, a good leader or role model, a strong communicator, confident in their abilities, motivational, organized, creative, and enthusiastic. There are plenty other characteristics that a phys-ed teacher could possess that make them a great teacher, however only these will be touched on. On the other hand a few undesired characteristics that could make a phys-ed teacher seem bad are: mean, bad with people skills, condescending, temperamental,…
