I embrace my culture because of my proximity to the Huerfano Mesa, which in the Navajo language is called Dziłnáoodzíłii (Dzilth-Na-o-Dilth-Hle). The Navajo people have four other mountains that are sacred to us, and from where I live, I can see two of them; Mt. Hesperus and Mt. Taylor. These sacred mountains motivated me to learn more about my heritage and the Navajo language. I have studied to better understand the language and to communicate in Navajo with my family. Once I started to understanding Navajo, I felt more connected to my culture and my people. I quickly learned that family is everywhere, no matter how far I might go; I will always be connected to my culture and my people. I have little to no tied with my Indian community due to the distance I live from my closest Chapter House. I have attended some event that is closely tied to the Navajo culture like Shoegames, which is played only during the winter. I will attend Northern Arizona University, which will be the west side of the Navajo Nation and there will be the western mountain San Francisco Peak. I will not go very far from my people, but I will still continue my Navajo Language
