My Observation At The Met

So far, I have completed three of the seven hours of observing my organization. This organization has many different parts. As a result, I have been observing different areas (example: the office, kid’s ministry, choir etc.). I started this project knowing a good much about this organization; however, so far I have learned a lot more. I have seen the struggles as well as the strengths within this organization, and I am enjoying the learning process. Aside from my observations, I have conducted two of my three interviews. I have interviewed the Minister of Music (Mr. Merton Huff), and the church’s secretary (Ms. Robin). Six years later, the church went bankrupt and the doors of the church were closed. During, the early 1900s, the founding father of the Met experience financial difficulties. These lessons helped orchestrate a new vision and set them to create an innovative PATH (prayer, attendance, tithes and offerings, and hospitable invitation), and continues today with nearly 1,100 members. The culture of the organization seems to be one focused on community. From my observation and interviews, I got the impression that the Met works on building the community and serving others. From my interviews, each person described the climate as an “open climate.” Ms. Robin also describes the organization’s climate as a “happy climate.” She said the fact that the organization focuses on building relationships as well as getting tasks done, makes working easier.
