During my two decades of dedicated practice and perfection in the art of Bharatnatyam dance, I uphold the high energy and passion required to embody the classical dancer. Outside of medicine, I enjoy choreographing pieces of classical dance for performances with up to 16 dancers. Creating calculated movement, counts, patterns, formations, and colors in my head along with the music is a privilege. Then to see it come to life on stage after teamwork and dedicated teaching is a rewarding experience like none other. Similar to surgery, there is a sense of mastery over the entire production that makes the responsibility greater and more meaningful. I am calm and confident in pressured situations because of this background. The manual dexterity and complexity of surgery is an element that is mirrored in my abilities.
