My Journey to College
It all started on a Wednesday around 4 o’clock pm, I was dozing in and out of sleep when my phone began to vibrate. I picked it up and realized it was a coach for the Upper Iowa wrestling team. From that day forward I could not wait to get to college and experience the college life. Many colleges wanted me to join their school. I chose Upper Iowa over two other colleges the two main reasons were: First, the way they do their scheduling is very nice, you only have to take 3 classes, at most, per term and there is only two terms in a semester. I felt this college was best to get me a degree in the career that I am pursuing. Second, was the wrestling program and wrestling coach. The program has been very successful in the past, and the coach was what I was looking for. I felt this program was the best to make me a better wrestler and person overall.
I could not believe that I was just a couple months away from becoming a college athlete. I was so happy when I finally decided to become an Upper Iowa Peacock that I ran upstairs and told my parents right away. They were so happy for me. They knew this was what I always wanted to do. That night I texted just about everyone in my contacts, they were all so happy for me. The next day at school everyone congratulated me, and wished me

I never thought that I would be excited to start a new school year. It was something different that made me feel this way. I didn’t know what that may be, but it was a good thing. I had participated in baseball this past summer so it kept me pretty busy. The end of the season rolled around and my team was in the state tournament, we got through the first game easily. We ended up winning the class 2A state baseball

That month of September I experienced some of the highest of highs and some of the lowest of lows. There were days of joy and days of tears as I worked through the process, learning where I wanted to be and where I was vying for an opportunity but with no certainty at the time. I went on multiple official visits and managed a busy school academic schedule, playing another sport as I was in the middle of field hockey season and all while trying to stay grounded in the process. There were moments I thought I wanted to quit and my club director was there to reassure and encourage me through it all. On October 13th, 2023, I received the call I had been dreaming of when the Ohio State University head coach called me to offer me to come be part of their Ohio State lacrosse family.…
