It is tough not to create a bond with these students when they look up to you and see you as a role model. Terminating with the peer-mentoring group that I was co-facilitating was the toughest termination that I went through in this agency. The mentors really enjoyed the group and stated that they really enjoyed being part of the group and having us as people to look up to. We had some students cry on the final meeting when they got the opportunity to share their feelings on the group, and that just made it even more difficult to terminate with these students.
The students that I worked with were students that had trouble keeping up academically due to certain events and experiences going on at home. I leave concerned that their grades will drop and they won’t graduate in the future. Also, since the students in the peer mentor group were really excited about the group, I am worried that their group doesn’t get supported for the next school year. The group was made as a project that would be continued by next year’s interns. We were able to do our job with the group, now my concern is that next years interns do not support the group and the group ends up being
