My First and Final Monstrous Essay
Throughout the past couple of weeks in my English 111 class I have been learning about research and documentation. The topics that have been covered are; how to research, why to document, how to avoid plagiarism, the internet searching strategies, how to use NC LIVE and other scholarly search engines, website evaluation, how to integrate quotes, and more continuous information. I could go on and on about all the topics covered in class. Instead of doing that let me explain it all to you in an extensive essay. Which includes some of the things we covered during class!

One way is to introduce the quote with a complete sentence and then use a colon. Take this example into consideration. In “The Wife Beater,” Rosenwald Smith provides statistical evidence in order to prove that domestic violence is a serious issue, “More than 4 million women are victims of severe assaults by boyfriends and husbands each year” (517). Another way to integrate a quote into a paragraph is to use an introductory phrase that is not a complete sentence, separated from the quotation with a comma. For example: The author emphasizes the seriousness of domestic violence when she says, “ More than 4 million women are victims of severe assaults by boyfriends or husbands each year” (Rosenwald Smith 517). Another way to add quotes to your paper is by making the quotation a part of your own sentence with no punctuation between your own words and the words you are quoting. Like this example shows: the author declares the seriousness of domestic violence when she says that “More than 4 million women are victims of severe assaults by boyfriends and husbands each year” (Rosenwald Smith 517). The last method we learned in class is to use a short quotation (only a few words) as part of your own sentence. Rosenwald Smith reveals to her audience the shocking statistic that annually “4 million women” fall victim to “severe assaults by boyfriends and husbands” to show that domestic violence is a serious issue.
