He never had many of the privileges that many of his peers had. He always had to walk to school because he had no transportation. Walking to school isn’t terrible, but the worse part was he did it barefoot. My father didn’t have any shoes that he could comfortably wear on his feet daily. Can you imagine going through that? Many kids, like myself, complain about walking to and from school. This makes me think of how ungrateful I am sometimes. There are so many dangers of walking around barefoot, especially in a village where the roads are not very developed yet. As he grew up this was something that he had gotten used to. As a young adult, he had many jobs that he committed to. There would be days that he would have to work these multiple jobs nonstop for more than 12 hours. He constantly fell asleep on the job. How do you define them? No, I’m not asking for the dictionary definition. Think to yourself, what is an influence and what does it mean to be one? In one way or another somebody has made an impact in your life right? Think about that person. Would you be where you are right now without that person? From their virtues to their flaws how have they taught you? Your influence doesn’t have to be a famous celebrity, it can be anybody that has taught you your most important lessons in life. People give up so much in order for others to have a better life than them. My advice to you is that you work hard. Don’t stop reaching for the top. There are people who are not as privileged as you, just like my father told me. People didn’t believe that my dad was going to make it out here, but he did and he is now more happier than ever. Someone in your life will inspire you to do something you may have never imagined. Whoever your influence is, thank them. Thank them for bringing you up and showing you how to be the best that you can
