Perspective Radio Essay- My Family Heritage
I remember when I was a kid my dad use to teach me Polish. I lived in a country in South America called Bolivia for almost all my life. And the language of the country is Spanish. I didn’t understand why I had to learn Polish and Spanish at the same time if nobody talked Polish apart from my dad and his family. I asked my dad once and we had like this talk to talk from Dad to son.
“Dad, why do I have to learn Polish? Nobody speaks Polish here”
“Well son, you’re a decedent from a Polish family. And one day you will go back to your roots in Poland”.
“Hmmm… but it’s so hard to learn how to write in Polish.” I’d rather just speak Spanish all my life.
“Trust me son, you won’t regret learning Polish”
