I wasn’t able to speak one whole sentence in English; I felt awful, I didn’t know anything happening around me, I felt very lonely. Rose was the name of my knight in shinning armor, she was the English teacher in ISLK, and without her I don’t where I would have been right now.

Two years later, English became my first language, I read in English, I wrote English, I spoke in English and I even dreamt in English. 2011 was when my family moved to Malmö. The second term I put some time to Swedish mostly because of the national test. The Swedish national test was the first and gave me no time to get fully prepared to it, yet I was able to pass two parts out of three, the reading and the writing, the one I failed was the speaking. I was happy, I thought I might have a chance to pass Swedish this term, but reality struck me hard, and I ended up failing Swedish, but I didn´t give up instead I give it my best to get into a summer school. Getting into summer school was not easy, mostly because the principle was extremely busy (I think she was just lazy), but after three weeks of long journeys from the classroom to the principles offices (I literally went to the principles office after every class) I was able to get info of where I should be if I want to join summer

The first time a child reads is an important milestone in his or her life. Literacy is, after all, the key to success. In “Superman and Me,” Sherman Alexie relays both his ease at teaching himself to read and his difficulty in his literacy not being accepted by those around him. Susan Madera faced hardship in speaking English correctly due to her second language, neighborhood, yet she was accepted as an English writer, as she narrates in “One Voice.” Although I learned to read at a young age like Sherman Alexie and attended private grammar school like Susan Madera, I wasn’t subjected to any backlash or hardship in speaking, so my literacy journey was much easier that theirs.…

My writing experience: I didn’t start to read until I was in first grade. Every week we would go to library to check-out two books and take a test on the books we read on a computer. Every day in English we read a short story to ourselves then we would play games dealing with the story to make it fun. To be honest I never really did a lot of writing in Elementary , Middle, or High school so I can’t pinpoint when I started writing. In essay writing I learned its always good to express yourself with your own opinion.…

As stated in the assignment description, literacy is entirely acquired in context. As I’ve known how to read since my early developmental years, it wasn’t that I was able to read something into much later on. When I first started college two years ago, I acquired an entirely new literacy of a digital artifact in a digital media class. In the class, a core project was the development of a professional personal website.…
