My decision to pursue a career in mechanical engineering came, not as an epiphany, but as an evolutionary process. I realized that engineering with a focus on efficient transportation was the heart of my home country’s economy, Thailand. Automobiles became a point of interest for me. I would spend almost every weekend at an automobile repair shop near my home. I would help the mechanics in doing their job, and as my skills developed, I came to understand the role of the engineer - to design intricate and reliable machinery. I wanted to be a part of that creativity. It may seem simplistic, but as a child, I spent much of my free-time creating many projects with my Lego set. It was my favorite toy. Later I began repairing small machinery, often disassembling the pieces to see how it works. When I started working on cars, I realized that I did not want to just fix them, I wanted to create them. My high school counselor guided me toward subjects that would lead me to a career in design engineering. As I continued working on automobiles and attending the classes that were recommended, horizons were opened well beyond my original scope. Trucks, heavy equipment, trains, airplanes, space exploration - they all started with an idea that was drawn on paper. Creativity at its finest. I knew I wanted to be there. …show more content…
My intended major is the continued education in the field of Mechanical Engineering. Yes, I am prepared to continue my education in my chosen major. Since a very young age I have been deeply interested in the creation of products and infrastructure in my home country. I found that a career in the engineering field would bring satisfaction to me, and to provide a better life for others. My primary major is most important to me, and I am not prepared to change the direction of my education. If mechanical engineering were not available to me, I would have to research other
