Excel isn’t something I have used often in the past. I took a computer class in high school, which is similar to the one I am in now. It was broke down into two different classes, taught by two different teachers. One teacher taught Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint, while the other taught Excel. It has been several years since I took that course, therefore this course is a great refresher, and will help me not only in my college career, but in my daily life as well. After reading the Unit 3 read section, and getting more in depth with how this program works, I have a better understanding of every source within this program.
The ability to add, subtract, multiply, etc. with Excel is extremely helpful to me. For a long time, I have tried

The supplemental videos, quizzes, and audio incorporated in the modules had further explanation and a visual aid that my textbook did not have. I am a visual and auditory learner so this was very helpful. The online Facebook page allowed all classes to post questions about the material they were struggling with. I checked this page regularly as other student’s questions shed light on some topics that weren’t completely clear to me and further helped me understand them. It was a great communication tool to have classroom time outside of school.…

My goal is visual storytelling for print and digital that is content-driven, clear and easy to navigate. I accomplish this by collaborating and communicating with photo and word editors. This also requires staying up-to-date with daily news and being familiar with our newspaper's content. I often juggle multiple tasks during a design shift. In addition to my design responsibilities, I help make sure design desk schedules are accurate and posted in a timely manner, fix plotter paper jams, resolve digital issues, manage page flow, convert graphics to our style or correct them, provide detailed explanations of workflow issues, create illustrations and provide help to my colleagues when needed.…

When I was first accepted into the TexPrep program to begin my first year of instruction, I honestly never expected much to come out of it. I shrugged it off and thought of it as an excuse for parents to get kids out of the house for a few hours in the summer. It wasn’t until the end of the instruction that I perceived how much my time there had actually aided me in my studies. For one thing, what the teachers introduced to me in their courses bewildered me as I most likely would have never learned what was offered, at least at the pace of a regular high school student.…

I am very excited about the opportunities available through the Wellesley Quantitative Analysis Institute! This summer, I took the QAI summer course and loved learning how to use data analysis and computer skills to solve problems and answer questions. As someone who wants to have a career in economics, a field that looks at data and uses quantitative tools to address social problems, I enjoyed learning about applications of statistics in various areas of study, from psychology to history. I am especially interested in strengthening my applied knowledge of statistics, data analysis, and computer programming. While I can learn about these topics in class, I found this summer that the fastest and most effective way to sharpen my skills is to apply them to real world problems.…

When I first began this class I thought that this would be just another introductory class that is required to orient you to the expectations of the particular college. Now, after completing this class, I know that this is not the case. Personal Dimensions of Learning has been a great help, not only to my school work, but also in my daily life. Before taking this class, I thought that learning, and completing daily tasks, were mostly memorizing the order of the way things are supposed to be done and just completing the task. I never liked this strategy, but it always seemed to be the most convenient way to get things done at school, home, and work.…
