I was afraid that this would happen to me and I would go into college with no idea on what career I wanted to learn. But it wasn’t till a special Friday when I missed school to go through a days of work with my brother that I realized what career I wanted for myself. I was very grateful for my brother giving me the opportunity to experience this. I didn’t think it would be as help full as it ended up being for me. Once I was shown all the elements of working with people from different parts of the country and handling business independently I immediately knew what seemed right for me.

I was welcomed to a large logo of the company; I was very intrigued but my brother walked past everything as if it was nothing special to him since he has worked there for few years. I walked into the cubicle area as a curious child wanting to see everything and turning my head at every sound and motion. We went in earlier than what he usually goes into work so he could explain a little more about what exactly he does. Wright Session 1 Journal INT-201A For many years I floundered as to what career I should pursue. The aspirations of becoming a marine biologist or an English teacher that I had held previously were no longer in line with my interests or desires. I wanted to write and work with books. One night I had the privilege of speaking with the owner of a local publishing company who was in need of an intern editor.…

Throughout my educational career I have had several great teachers. To choose my best teacher is difficult for me since each teacher was for a different course and they had a unique personality and style of teaching. Overall, I would have to choose Mr. Poska as my best teacher (not necessarily my favorite teacher). I took AP Calculus I & II with him during my junior year of high school, then I took Calculus III with him in my senior fall semester. I also happened to have him as my junior and senior advisor during Connect.…

Throughout my high school career, and previous to high school, I have taken various science and art classes. These are subjects that have always caught my attention and I plan to continue attending classes that fall under these categories, during my senior year and throughout college. Science has been a subject that I have always had an interest in and have thoroughly enjoyed. During high school, my focuses have primarily been in health science classes that will help me excel in a medical career, although I have taken science classes outside of this area. The classes I have taken so far are Honors Biology, Medical Science I, Animal Science, Honors Chemistry…

To my surprise, I found myself somewhere I never visualized myself being on a Friday night, actually, a place I never expected I would spend any night to be exact, surrounded by fifty or sixty men; of all different races, ages, and religions. I had overwhelming feelings of reconsideration and anxiety flowing through my body. I was wondering if these men would look at me different because of how I dressed or spoke. Nevertheless, I tried to convince myself everybody here was equal, and that I was not superior to the men here were.…

Finances (business) has always been really interesting to me, that is why I chose it to be my major. Although combat arms would be a hell of a lot more fun, I believe there will be more opportunities when I get out if I utilize my degree while I’m an officer. Finance Corps officers have five core competencies, fund the force, banking and disbursing, accounting support and cost management, pay support and management internal controls. All of these competencies relate directly towards my degree. My top three jobs that I will likely pursue after I serve will be a financial manager, operations manager, and a financial advisor.…

Ever since I was a little girl, I have had the desire to help others. Many people have the same desire in their life, but for me it’s very different. I strive to make a lasting impact on others rather than simply providing them a helping hand. I love feeling with others instead of just for them, and I enjoy turning the situation around and providing them with a smile or two. Seeing people struggle is very hard for me because I am incredibly empathetic.…

Little did I know that my youthful dreams were becoming the footsteps to my career goals.…

I remember countless times of coming up to him, handing him my computer, only to be given a look over his glasses. I knew the look, he would place the computer on the desk, slightly fix his brown Ray Ban glasses, and stare at you intently with his blue eyes.
