My Blind Spot : Unrealistic Role Expectations

Improved Essays
My blind spot is unrealistic role expectations. The ELI points out that I can become influenced by the expectations of the various community and set unrealistic role expectations for myself. I might develop a belief that I can solve everyone’s problems and by doing that I undermine that others are responsible for their own choices. I might have a false judgement that I deserve special treatment because of my role. Without clear thinking, I may not be able to assess my effectiveness accurately in various roles. My thinking as a perfectionist will result in being afraid to make any mistakes and would be conscious if anyone finds out about my mistake and that they would lose trust in me or might consider me as deceiving. This is very true of me and this is more problematic in my work place where it is difficult for me to say “no” for additional work or helping some out on the project and doing his work. This causes me to put long hours at work which in turn limits my time that I can spend with kids. Likewise, the same happens in the personal settings wherein I always says yes for any request from friends for help and that in turn might clash with work that I have to finish at home.
D2A. STEPS TO MITIGATE
I will take steps to mitigate the blind spot in order to make better ethical decisions by doing the following three things. First, I will train myself to stop believing that I can solve everyone’s problems and remind myself that others are responsible for their own

Throughout my boundary project journey, I will be focusing on how I can stand up for myself and express my needs to others without feeling guilty or be afraid of losing love. I want to be able to work on my boundary issue of compliance by using the word, “no” whenever it is needed, rather than always giving in. In my first week of the boundary project, I learned a lot about my child’s fears and how my adult could more effectively talk my child off the ledge, rather than completely pushing the child off through ineffective methods. During this week, I had one moment where I ran into my boundary issue.…

Therefore, my professional mission statement is, “To vigorously perform my responsibilities as a public administrator and to enhance the quality of public service by providing my clients with dedication, honesty and a commitment to make the best interest of all, my first priority.”…
