The consciousness that finally all of the accounting material stored in my brain has a meaningful purpose, other than to pass my required classes is exhilarating. Being able to convert theoretical skills into practical skills is beyond astonishing for me. An on growing locally owned business gave me the opportunity to finally work hands on with a job related to my accounting degree. Participating under the supervision of Elizabeth Rubio, who counts with a master’s degree in accounting, was a complete privilege. As acting CFO at Frontier Foods & Cold Storage Inc. Ms. Rubio guided me, very patiently, through several processes and procedure. I struggled at the beginning of this task because their automated accounting system is not the same as the SAP system that is taught in the university. Nonetheless, the basic concepts of accounting systems are the same, which was the main reason I was able to surpass that rock on the road. For the completion of this task most of the necessary conceptual information needed was recollected from accounting system’s class along with intermediate accounting class concepts. Data that also served as a good tool for this task was the one learned during advance business law classes. Knowing about learning about the transfer of ownership of the products ordered. My supervisor was pleased to know that not only was I informed about my accounting principles, but that I also had additional handy …show more content…
I acknowledge I do have weaknesses that need to be worked on but overall I am very please with the results and have given in my job and they way I have represented UTEP education. One recommendation I would suggest is more motivation for students to take an internship to allow them to have the experience of what it is to work in the real world before they graduate. I know it might not be the case for everyone, but I do know of some students that don’t take and internship because they don’t want to “lose time” with an internship rather than complete a class for graduation requirements. Little do students know that taking an internship does count as a class requirement. All that is left for me to say is that UTEP’s education and my hard work has developed into a formal job offer from Frontier Foods & Cold Storage that I am looking forward to

An internship is normally a work task a student completes after a series of classes to gain a degree in a particular field they think they’ll love, whether they still love it after they’ve completed that journey is based upon a multitude of criteria. Luckily, I have found that I quite enjoy fashion and working in retail throughout this internship at Dress Barn. Occasionally students find that what they thought they were getting into, is actually completely different than what they expected. Especially when reading about a profession on paper versus seeing it up closer in real life. When I started college, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to study or achieve with my life.…

I became frustrated, so many times and just wanted to give up, but I had to remind myself that hard times are going to come and everything is going to work out. Many times I sat on my bed crying because it seems like everything piled on me at one time.…

Being responsible , sticking to rules , being presentable , sociable and productive were the key that helped me to get those outstanding results . It wasn’t easy at the beginning since it was my first experience but having all the support from staff and management was a major push that helped me to achieve them . Two major goals I had during this internship were working on new tasks while depending on myself and solving problems in a very rational calm way whether I faced any . Working in such field requires dealing with different people from all around the world so many have different way of thinking and different strategies and that could lead to facing many challenges , I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to do it…
