While Benito Mussolini was the prime minister of Italy he aimed to make his country an unquestionable Great Power. The main reason for these goals being put in place, was Mussolini wanted to prepare Italy for a possible war against England and France. Of these goals, Mussolini was able to only achieve a small amount due to him being dismissed of the position as prime minister. Also, it was not until Hitler rose to power in Germany that Mussolini was able to gain freedom in taking action with his goals. While Mussolini’s ambition with his foreign policy goals was to help Italy raise to the status of being a Great Power, too many countries suffered the wrath of his journey to attempting to achieve that ambition.
