Along with the advancements of society, Women of Islam have progressed and reached many achievements. In the modern world today, the roles of Muslim women in the Islamic World have greatly became more aligned to the values of the Quran. It is highly significant to understand what the religion of Islam has to say about Women which are a great part of our society today, and understand the context behind how the Muslim Women have changed and are portraying the beliefs of Islam and disproving the false depictions. The false depictions are widely common particularly in the western world, where a Muslim woman is seen as “the stereotype of a woman hidden behind a veil, a voiceless, silent figure, bereft of rights” (Angha). This investigation is significantly important to research because it allows to see how women in the Muslim world have overcome the wrong depictions. The Quran teaches that men and women are to complement each other, work together and to be respected as equal. However the Quran has different responsibilities for men and women. Such as a women must take domestic care for the family and kids where a men must provide security and economic stability for the family, but this does not mean women must stay indoors at all time, they have other rights and can actively take part in society. Islam teaches gender equality however it is not necessarily and was not abided by in some area. Thought Islamic history, the role of women in Islam has varied. Many women have been deprived of their rights and have been unfairly treated.
