Hum. The touch of each music note, the pause between the notes, the extension of the note through the pedal is my escape. The background music, the lyrics, and each beat is my cue to express myself. The harshness of the drums, the swiftness of the guitars, and the steadiness of the pianos, are my way to express myself. Even if the radio or my fingers are not hitting the keys, music is a way for me to illustrate my ideas. Music has allowed me to pour out my own writing creations on paper. Usually, the lines are black and white, but when the music is in the background the paper is now full with colorful notes. The music suddenly revives my lungs with air. Music are not just my jams. Ka. Music is the key for me to open up my creative side and even though I’m not a singer, music has taken me on an adventure to find the meaning of life or a solution to my problems. Each letter I write is like a producer or a musician finishing a song in the studio. The notes blasting from the speaker transfers into my thoughts which travels to the paper and is later demonstrated to all. The wide range of music selection is like my bank account full of money and each style of music is another life story. They all contribute to my understanding on how to connect to a person. The lyrics of songs has somebody story behind it and sometimes those stories are also the person listening to the song. They bring people closer together but also sends them drifting apart. In my eyes music is more than just beats in the background with nonsense lyrics; music is somebody’s interpretation, somebody’s sense of peace, and somebody’s connection to others. Music has brought out my creative side.

Music can serve as a communication method between people. In the old times in Mexico it was very common for an admirer, in most cases the man, to go to his love’s house with a mariachi or a small group of musicians and sing love songs until the girl woke up to the man’s singing and received him by opening up her windows to the balcony she was in. Now, you must be thinking why did I bring this up? Well, just like the man dedicated love songs to his love nowadays people can’t explain the love towards their spouses or their parents so they pick a song to express what they feel. Music is communication not only by showing love but also by discussing their life experiences and history.…
