The skeletal muscles are voluntary, while the visceral muscles are involuntary. In this essay, I will be explaining muscles. There are many interesting facts about the muscles. Muscles are the "engine" that your body uses to propel itself.

Did you also know that there are three primary muscle fiber types in humans? Type I, Type IIA, Type IIB. Type I is a slow twitch. Type I is referred to as “slow twitch oxidative fibers”. Type I is described slow because it is a low-intensity exercise. Type IIA is known as intermediate fast- twitch fibers. They are a combination of Type I and Type II

The muscles are a structure in ways that they have myofilaments that form sarcomeres. The sarcomeres form the basic unit of striated muscles that enable the muscles to perform their functions effectively. The fibers making the sarcomeres are made of proteins, and this is the points where muscles contracts and relaxes. The contraction and relaxation of the muscles lead to the movement of the limbs. Energy is required in the allowing the muscles to contract or relax.…

Rigor mortis is the stiffening of the muscles several hours after death. The calcium that is released from the sarcolemma has locked onto the myosin heads allowing it the cross bridge to connect indefinitely. The ATP that unlocks the head from the actin is no longer available after three to five hours after death. Eventually, as the muscles will degrade after 48 hours after death the actin and myosin.…

These muscle fibers are composed of myofibrils, which not only give the muscle its striated appearance but also are also composed of contractile proteins known as actin (thin filaments) and myosin (thick filaments). Each actin protein has a binding site for myosin, which is regulated by two proteins known as Tropomyosin and Troponin. Both of these regulator proteins inhibit the binding of myosin to actin by overlapping the binding sites in a confirmation that could be described as a ribbon (Tropomyosin) and a thumbtack (Troponin). Each skeletal muscle is then divided and encapsulated by three difference layers of connective tissue. The first of these layers enclosed the whole skeletal muscle and is known as the epimysium, the second layer of connective tissue called the perimysium encloses each fascicle and finally the last layer of connective tissue which encapsulates each muscle fiber, which is known as the…

Anaerobic and aerobic exercise were determined to effectively influence muscle oxygen uptake at the cellular level. Evaluating and measuring the effectiveness of the two types of exercise on oxygen uptake would inform the advantages and disadvantages they have on muscles. Significant amounts of oxygen are consumed by the human muscles when moderate intensity aerobic work is performed. Contradictorily, anaerobic exercise causes the body to break down stored glycogen in muscles for energy. Therefore, oxygen availability, biological factors, and exercise intensity are factors contributing to muscle oxygen uptake.…
