In our schools today, our students are expected to do so much. From as early as kindergarten, kids have high expectations that are set on them. The expectations or skills the students are expected to learn are often called standards. Before advancing to the next grade, students need to know the standards expected for that grade. If the students fail to learn the standards, they are often held back and forced to take that grade all over again. As the years have gone on, the demand of our students has increased dramatically. Back in the day, multiplication was something that one would learn when entering middle school. In today’s schools, students start learning about multiplication in the second or third grade. For our general education children, this can be hard. Sometimes, it can be even harder for our students …show more content…
They are the students who will require the most TLC, and can be pushed to their fullest potential. As far as potential is concerned, most of our students do not know how to find it. As educators, we need to be the cheerleaders for our students. When we cheer the students on, they will want to work hard and try their best. When the produce their best work, they can see their potential. We can help a child see their potential by setting goals for them to try and reach. For us to reach those goals, the child and the educator must be fully on board. Our students also need someone who they can count, and they have access to. In your typical general education classroom, you will only have one teacher that you have full access to. When you have collaboration in a classroom, there will be two teachers in that classroom. This allows our students to have somebody they can talk to, and ask for help. If they do not understand what the teacher is saying while they are teaching, they can ask the other for guidance. Our students just need someone that will be there for them, no matter

    I can remember being a student in 3rd grade and my teacher, who was a first year teacher, would prepare us for the TAKS by having us memorize the multiplication facts. Every time we mastered a set, like multiplying by 7, we would earn a part of a banana split (the bowl, the banana, the ice cream, sprinkles, etc.).
