Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune, degenerative disorder that affect the central nervous system. The immune system gets confused about what parts of the body it's supposed to protect. So it attacks different body parts thinking they are foreign invaders. MS destroys the myelin sheaths and nerve fibers in the central nervous system. Demyelination causes a buildup of scar tissue this is known as sclerosis.
